History
The International Research & Innovation Center on Digital Intelligent Systems IRIXYS was created in March 2016 out of a partnership between the University of Passau (Germany), the engineering school INSA Lyon (France) and the Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy). Since 2019 the University of Pau is also an academic partner from IRIXYS.
Over the years, IRIXYS has become an international centre of excellence, based on a strong collaboration “without walls” between various research teams, while at the same time preserving each partner’s own research and local ecosystem. Today, in addition to the IRIXYS members, many more academic institutions are regularly cooperating with IRIXYS and are involved in the activities run by the Centre.
Prior to IRIXYS, INSA Lyon (France) and the University of Passau (Germany) had been running since 2008 a Franco-German doctoral college on Multimedia Distributed Pervasive Secure Systems (MDPS), to which the Università degli Studi di Milano (Italy) had joined in 2010.
