The replication mechanism is used to increase data availability and to guarantee a quality of service in several applications. Its performance is more relevant in mobile environments, where the network is susceptible to frequent topology changes and partitioning. In the replication mechanism, the replica placement process is one of the important issues to highlight.
In our research work, we presented ‘CReaM’, a user centric replication model. In CreaM, the replication process begins when the user becomes unsatisfied of the consumption of the resources of its device; consequently, it selects the data items that cause high consumption, and sends a replica placement request to those nodes that might be interested in the data. The proposed mechanism to select the relevant nodes that can accept the replica placement request is the subject of this presentation.
